Wanyee Craft: Connecting Culture, Art & Life Through Knots

Discover Wanyee Craft’s handmade knot jewelry — blending Eastern heritage craftsmanship with contemporary design for meaningful everyday wear appreciated by audiences in North America and Europe.

Wanyee Craft – Where Culture Inspires Contemporary Jewelry

At Wanyee Craft, jewelry is more than decoration — it is a bridge between people, culture, and daily life. Each piece embodies Eastern craftsmanship while embracing a modern, minimalist aesthetic that resonates with audiences who appreciate independent designer brands worldwide.

Our knot-inspired designs reflect connection, harmony, and continuity, appealing to customers in North America and Europe seeking meaningful, wearable art that fits into urban and international lifestyles.

Why I Founded Wanyee Craft

I identify more as a designer than an artist. My goal is to create objects that are both beautiful and functional, fostering a personal connection with their owner.

Founding Wanyee Craft is the culmination of years of exploration — a realization of my vision: to make design an integral part of daily life, offering pieces that tell stories and evoke emotions.

“Wanyee Craft allows my work to live in people’s everyday lives, forming meaningful connections.”

From London Studios to International Design

My creative journey began in London — studying Textile Design at Chelsea College of Arts (UAL) and later completing a master’s at the Royal College of Art (RCA). Coming from a background with little formal art training, I initially worried about keeping up. London’s diverse culture and perspectives taught me that personal design language matters more than technical skill.

Living in London didn’t just broaden my perspective — it reshaped how I approach design, teaching me that personal design language and vision matter more than technique alone.

Cultural Roots Shaping My Vision

Design for me grows from personal experience and cultural identity. Growing up learning traditional musical instruments, I developed a natural appreciation for heritage and memory. While early projects explored various themes, I found myself drawn back to expressing cultural richness through design.

These experiences inform every Wanyee Craft piece, creating jewelry that resonates emotionally with audiences across North America, Europe, and beyond.

From Textiles to Jewelry — A Natural Transition

During my studies, I experimented with body adornments, which naturally evolved into jewelry design. Jewelry requires precision and simplicity, aligning perfectly with the knot concept.

The transition retained my core design philosophy: every detail matters, and minimalism amplifies emotional expression. Audiences across North America, Europe, and beyond can appreciate the balance of aesthetics and functionality in each piece.

Knots — Structure, Emotion, and Mindfulness

Knots recur in my work, symbolizing connection, harmony, and eternity. Each thread can evolve into countless forms, offering endless possibilities for both structure and emotion.

Crafting knots in each handmade knot jewelry piece is a meditative practice — hands and heart respond together, bringing calm and presence. Time spent in slow craftsmanship becomes a human texture, a warmth embedded in every unique creation.

Velvet Flower Series — Exploring New Directions

Guided by this commitment to heritage, the Velvet Flower Series represents a new chapter in my creative journey. Inspired by the ancient Jiangsu Ronghua technique, each piece harmonizes tradition with modern artistry:

Intangible Heritage Meets Scholar Aesthetics

The collection blends the traditional craft of Ronghua (velvet flowers) with the art of Penjing (bonsai), capturing the elegant spirit of ancient Chinese scholars.

Capturing the Eternal

By using silk to recreate fleeting blooms, the work "uses the immortal to shape the mortal," creating a spiritual space where people can reflect on the beauty of life.

Modern Take on Tradition

It reimagines "Qinggong" (scholar’s desk displays) for contemporary spaces, using plants and flowers to represent virtues and a deep connection to nature.

“The Velvet Flower Series extends my brand, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern artistic expression.”

Design Dialogue Across Cultures

When Wanyee Craft reaches Western and international audiences, the goal is not solely to explain culture but to let design communicate through form and feeling.

Our jewelry allows people worldwide to appreciate aesthetics, craftsmanship, and subtlety without needing extensive cultural context. Each piece embodies a global language of design, resonating across diverse audiences, from North America to Europe.

“Design is not just a visual presentation — it is a companion in daily life.”
